Why does Franklin Elementary School District need an education foundation?
State budget cuts have forced schools to eliminate almost everything they don't consider "fundamental" to learning. FESDEF does not want the educational programs offered by Franklin Elementary School to suffer due to the budget crisis in Sacramento. FESDEF will continue to strive to fund the most competitive education possible for our children regardless of budget cuts. As you know, we could not provide any of the "extras" that go above and beyond an ordinary public school education without the support of our Franklin School families and our local community. Our children are guaranteed a public education. However, we don't feel our students deserve an ordinary education, they deserve an extraordinary one! FESDEF believes Franklin School parents are committed to providing their children the best possible education.
California ranks 47th among the states as one of the lowest in per pupil funding resulting in public schools that struggle to meet minimum standards for education. Over 400 school districts in California have responded by creating education foundations, many founded over 20 years ago. These foundations represent communities where parents have decided to regain some control over the quality of their children's education.
FESDEF is committed to generating funds to help support the programs and projects of the Franklin Elementary School by receiving contributions from the public and making donations to the school.
